Mr. Herrera practices corporate law and transactional law with an emphasis on Mexico-related mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and resort development. Licensed in both Mexico and the U.S., he counsels both Mexican and non-Mexican persons and entities involved in Mexico-related business activities.
His practice encompasses a broad range of industries doing business in Mexico, with particular emphasis on the real estate and hospitality industries. Mr. Herrera assists his clients in setting up, acquiring and selling Mexican business entities and assets, negotiating joint ventures, structuring resort developments, as well as providing the day-to-day legal advice that his clients need to run their Mexican businesses.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Herrera practiced transactional and international law in Mexico City for more than 11 years.
Representative Engagements
- Negotiated documentation of real property transactions, including sales and acquisitions of developed properties such as hotels and raw land for subsequent development
- Negotiated with governmental and private parties for international and Mexican joint ventures relating to tourism, resorts, telecommunications, manufacturing and technology
- Represented developers in all stages of the development process, including the negotiation, documentation and implementation of ownership vehicles, structures, and guarantees relating both to financing and development obligations
- Negotiation and documentation of construction and other related agreements
- Represented clients through all stages of governmental contracting
