Mr. Johnson is a commercial litigation attorney who concentrates his practice on complex commercial, contract, securities litigation and appeals.

Mr. Johnson has taught various legal subjects in the Political Science Department at Arizona State University and at Thunderbird School of Global Management, including courses on constitutional and Supreme Court law, and antitrust law.

Representative Engagements

  • Successfully represented a major Arizona ski resort in litigation over challenges to its upgrades on federal environmental and religious grounds, including the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, in U.S. District Court, at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and in obtaining a denial of certiorari in the U.S. Supreme Court. Client prevailed.
  • Successfully represented an investor in a major case involving allegations of securities fraud in the energy industry
  • Successfully represented a local accounting firm against allegations of improper practices
  • Successfully represented a large utility in a quiet title action
  • Successfully represented a member of a limited liability company in a series of cases involving the development and management of marinas on several large Arizona lakes
  • Successfully represented the members of a limited liability company in an internal dispute and sale of its property
  • Local counsel in U.S. District Court in various matters, including insurance defense and patent cases
