Products Liability Law

Jennings Strouss has an extensive practice in products liability defense litigation. Our attorneys not only defend national and international manufacturers, retailers and distributors against claims, but also have served as litigation counsel in complex, multi-district litigation involving a high volume of cases. For example, we served as regional defense counsel for a national manufacturer of orthopedic bone screws in over 100 matters in Arizona, Nevada and Utah and served as counsel to a manufacturer of latex gloves in all of their medical device liability cases in Arizona.

We stress efficient case management in order to help clients achieve their goals while minimizing legal time and expense. We do this by working closely with clients to gain an in-depth understanding of their products and business, by communicating frequently with each client (and co-counsel, if applicable) throughout the course of each particular matter, and by strategic staffing that utilizes the appropriate individual or team of partners, associates, nurse consultants and paralegals to effectively and efficiently resolve the particular matter.

The lawyers who make up our Products Liability Group are assisted by two full-time nurse consultants and a paralegal. These highly skilled support staff assist our attorneys in products liability matters by obtaining, analyzing and summarizing medical records, assisting in discovery, and preparing witnesses and experts for trial. Our paralegals are skilled in computerized case management support, even further improving our case management capabilities and efficiencies.

Our Products Liability Group is backed up by the capabilities of the firm's Litigation Department, the firm's largest. More than two-thirds of the firm's attorneys practice in litigation, and many of them, while not in the Products Liability Group, also have experience in products and other types of tort cases.

Our attorneys are active in national and local professional organizations, including the Defense Research Institute (and DRI's Products Liability Committee), the Federation of Insurance & Corporate Counsel, the American Board of Trial Advocates, and the International Association of Defense Counsel. Throughout the firm's history we have had attorneys who have served as presidents and officers of those organizations.
