Gerald “Buzz” Alston
Buzz is a Member with Jennings, Strouss & Salmon and has practiced law for 40 years in litigation, handling matters from first degree criminal murder defenses to sophisticated commercial matters. He received his J.D. from the University of Arizona.
Throughout his career, Buzz has volunteered with and served on boards for various non-profits including, Esparanza - a non-profit corporation that operates and provides medical services in Brazil, a City of Phoenix organization that provides job training for underprivileged people and the Maricopa County Bar Association. He served also as general counsel in the 1970s for the Arizona Chapter of the Wives and Families of the Vietnam POWs and MIAs. He believes serving our community can be, in some small measure, payback for the rich blessings he has received from the State of Arizona and its people.
Buzz and his wife, Patricia, have two children and six grandchildren. He also enjoys Karaoke.
Keith F. Overholt
Mr. Overholt is a member of the firm's Commercial Law Department. He has practiced law in Phoenix for more than 31 years, focusing on pension/benefits, corporate, tax, labor and construction law.
Mr. Overholt serves as counsel for the management appointed trustees for many Arizona Taft-Hartley employee benefit funds including the Operating Engineers, Laborers and Teamsters, Carpenters and Plumbers and Pipefitters. Additionally, he represents the Boards of Trustees of many multi-employer apprenticeship programs including the Laborers, Operating Engineers, Pipe Trades, Electricians and Teamsters. These representations have provided Mr. Overholt, as management counsel, with a unique relationship with the major construction industry labor unions.
Terry joined Jennings, Strouss & Salmon in 2012 as Project Specialist. Her first and ongoing project at the firm remains rollout and implementation of the firm's new Client Relationship Management system. Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a legal secretary and law firm manager for the same attorney for 33 years, at three different firms.
Terry is a former Secretary and board member of the Association of Legal Administrators, Valley of the Sun Chapter. Her community involvement includes service as a parent volunteer to the local high school band, color guard, girl's athletics, and girl scouts. This experience taught her the importance of parent involvement to the success of our young people.
Terry is a native of Arizona. She and her husband, Rick, have three grown children and, in her spare time, Terry enjoys traveling, hiking, camping and spending time with family and two dogs.
Dave has been with Jennings, Strouss & Salmon since March 2007, beginning as the firm’s Director of Finance before being promoted to Chief Financial Officer in June 2014. Prior to working in the legal services industry, Dave served as Regional Controller for a publicly held plastics manufacturing company based in Wisconsin.
Dave has a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In addition to his role with the Greater Phoenix – Valley of the Sun Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators, Dave currently serves as the Treasurer for the Jennings Strouss Foundation and is an active board member with Girls On The Run of Maricopa & Pinal Counties.
Dave was a wide receiver on the 1986 Miami University (Ohio) football team that won the Mid American Conference championship. In his spare time, Dave enjoys running, hiking, lifting weights, watching professional & college sports and riding his Harley Davidson.
Jean has served as Director of Human Resources for Jennings Strouss & Salmon since 1995 and has worked in law firm administration for more than 25 years. While she is responsible for benefits, compensation, hiring and the normal day-to-day functions of an HR professional, her primary role is working with the attorneys and staff of the firm.
Prior to relocating to Arizona from Iowa, she worked as a Community Outreach Aid where she facilitated government welfare programs to the less fortunate. She also worked at a residential halfway house for alcohol and drug abuse patients and volunteered her time to the families of the Homeward Bound program. The experience she gained made her critically aware of the level of need that exists and the difference that one person can make in the lives of others.
Jean has two rambunctious Chihuahuas and enjoys aerobics, hiking and spending time with family.
Andrew J. Chambers
Andy is a commercial litigator whose practice focuses on business disputes, construction litigation, surety and fidelity claims, coverage disputes, and cyber security law. Andy is a current Vice-Chair of the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee of the ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section, and is a regular contributor to events and publications in the areas of construction, surety, fidelity, and cyber security law..
Andy and his wife, Christina, have two young children, Abigail and Wilson. Andy enjoys pretty much all types of rigorous outdoor activities and in 2014 completed the Ironman Arizona.
John J. Egbert
John chairs the Labor and Employment Department at Jennings, Strouss & Salmon. His practice focuses in the areas of discrimination, wrongful discharge, and wage and hour litigation. He practices extensively before the state and federal appellate courts. John received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Brigham Young Univerity J. Reuben Clark Law School. He has been included in Southwest Super Lawyers since 2007 and Best Lawyers in America® since 2006.
John’s community involvement has included service on the Personnel Policy Committee for the YMCA.
Dawn O. Anderson
Dawn O. Anderson is the Director of Business Development for Jennings, Strouss & Salmon. She is responsible for managing the firm’s branding, marketing and business development initiatives. Dawn has over 17 years of experience in the legal industry, and is knowledgeable in all areas of marketing and communications, including public relations, strategic planning, qualitative and quantitative research, creative development, coaching, and professional development. Dawn earned a B.A. in Communications from Arizona State University and is formerly trained in Graphic Design.
Dawn is a member of Central Arizona Women, past president of the Legal Marketing Association’s Southwest Chapter and member and former board member for the Women’s Metropolitan Arts Council, a group of professional women who support Phoenix Art Museum. She and her husband, Chris, have two sons and in her spare time, Dawn enjoys photography, reading, and participating in family activities.
Kerry A. Hodges
Kerry is a litigator whose practice focuses on commercial, real estate, bankruptcy, and business disputes. He also represents attorneys and law firms in matters relating to State Bar complaints, disciplinary matters, and other licensing, ethics, and professional-responsibility issues.
Before joining the firm, Kerry served as a law clerk to the Honorable James A. Teilborg of the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona and played baseball both collegiately and professionally, first at Texas Tech University and later in the Houston Astros minor-league system.
Kerry spends the more important parts of every day with his wife, Tracy, and their two young children, Ryan and Cael. He remains an avid sports fan.
Robert J. Novak
Bob has practiced law for over 40 years in the area of banking, real estate, financing, and corporate structuring. He received his JD from the University of Arizona.
Bob has been involved in assisting charities throughout his career. He has severed on committees and boards, chaired various non-profits, and had the opportunity to work at the grass root level on several organizations. In addition to participation on the Jennings Strouss Foundation, Bob has recently been asked to start a new foundation for a 60-year old nonprofit in the Valley. This nonprofit has assisted over 100,000 families and individuals throughout its history and is one of the largest providers of assisted living in the southwest.
Bob and his wife Heather, who also serves on the boards of several non-profits, have a son and enjoy outdoor activities.
Irene L. Rueda
Irene Rueda is an Arizona native with three very active boys. Her community involvement includes youth leader for her church (St. Charles Borromeo), graduate of Mexican American Legal Defense Education Fund (MALDEF) Leadership Program, and volunteer youth football photographer.
Prior to joining Jennings, Strouss & Salmon, Irene worked as a secretary for the Arizona Attorney General's Office; program manager at Achievement Learning Tutoring Company; secretary for the Maricopa County Attorney's Office; and Hispanic promotions coordinator at Alliance Beverage.
Rene D. Stanbery
Renee joined the firm in 2006 as a member of the Information Technology department. In addition, she is also responsible for the firm's library resources. Prior to joining Jennings, Strouss & Salmon, Renee worked for the law firm of Robbins & Green for 26 years, where she was involved with the annual United Way Campaign for many years.
Renee and her husband, Terry, have three sons and 7 grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling and attending sporting events.
